| Varenicline– Chantix Side Affects |
The active ingredient Varenicline Tartrate used in anti-smoking
marvel drug Chantix is the latest molecule which has gained the
priority FDA review due to the drug’s possible benefits to the human
health. However, there are several side effects associated with this
drug such as:
Nausea lasting for a few months, Stomach pain, indigestion,
vomiting, constipation, gas, weakness or filling tiredness,
increased hunger, unpleasant taste, headache and sleeping disorders
like insomnia or experiencing unusual dreams. However in some
typical cases, some unusual side effects other than what are
mentioned above may be experienced due to the use of
Varenicline -Chantix for which the doctor should immediately be
consulted.
Some unusual disorders were also reported because of the
Varenicline- Chantix use, like: Blood and Lymphatic System Disorders
which include in rare cases - anemia and lymphadenopathy,
leukocytosis, thrombocytopenia and splenomegaly. In rare cases the
Cardiac disorders such as: angina pectoris, arrhythmia, bradycardia,
ventricular extra systoles, myocardial infarction, palpitations,
tachycardia, arterial fibrillation, cardiac flutter, coronary artery
ailments, cor-pulmonale and acute coronary syndrome are also
reported.
Besides these, the disorders in ear and labyrinth in rare case such
as tinnitus and vertigo, deafness and Meniere’s disease; while in
the eye disorders like conjunctivitis, dry eyes, irritating eyes,
blurred vision quality, disturbed visual, eye pain, acquired night
blindness, temporary blindness, sub-capsular cataract, ocular
vascular disorder, photophobia and vitreous floaters may be
reported.
Also in remote cases, the gastrointestinal disorders such as
diarrhoea, gingivitis, dysphagia, enterocolitis, eructation,
gastritis, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, mouth ulceration,
oesophagitis, gastric ulcer, intestinal obstruction and acute
pancreatitis may be noticed.
